State of Rio de Janeiro supports major project of kitchen oil collection

FAPERJ, Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro responsable for funding of research and development in the State of Rio de Janeiro, anounced on their site, and also made public during the event Rio Inovação that it will support the technical development of the collection and purification of kitchen oil.
The consultancy company Felicissimo and Ramires, beneficiary of the grant, is planning to invest the funds for the construction of 4 mini plants for purification of the oil collected. Still investigating where to locate these units in the state, it became clear that one of the first locations is going to be in the city of Resende, where the collection of kitchenoil is allready in an advanced stage, thanks to the project Viva Oleo, the work of a group of young entrepreneurs, which founded the company Ecoleta Ltda.
Other cities that are under investigation for this investment are Rio de Janeiro city, São Gonçalo/Rio Bonito, Campos dos Goytacazes and Itaperuna.
The objective of the project is to add value to the oil collected by small cooperatives or individuals by offering the possibility to bring large volumes together and purify the oil, so the final product can be offered to the soap and biodiesel industry.
